How to remove Otter AI from Zoom, Teams and Google Meet

Otter's notetaker is useful until it turns up in meetings you didn't mean to record, including other people's meetings, because it's connected to someone's calendar. Here's how to remove it right now, stop it coming back, and get meeting notes without a bot at all.

1. Remove Otter from a meeting that's happening now

Pick whichever is fastest:

• Type "stop otter" in the meeting chat. Any participant can do this, even without an Otter account, and the notetaker leaves.
• Remove it as the host. In Zoom, open Participants, find Otter Notetaker, click More next to it and choose Remove. In Teams and Google Meet, remove it from the people list the same way you'd remove any participant.
• Stop it from the Otter app (if it's your Otter). Open the live conversation in Otter, click Stop Notetaker and confirm.

Tip for Zoom hosts: turning on the waiting room means bots can't walk straight in; you can simply not admit it.

2. Stop Otter from joining your meetings automatically

Removing it once doesn't stop it rejoining next time. Otter joins meetings from the calendar you connected, so change the auto-join setting:

1. Sign in to Otter on the web or desktop and open Integrations (in some versions, the AI Notetaker settings on the Meetings tab).
2. Go to the Meetings tab and find Default auto-join settings.
3. Choose Meetings I manually select.

On the Otter mobile app: Account → Account Settings → Meeting settings, then set Auto-join meetings to Manual.

3. Disconnect Otter from your calendar

For a clean break, open Otter's Settings and disconnect the calendar it's using. That removes Otter from all your future calendar events in one step. You can also revoke Otter's access from your Google or Microsoft account's connected-apps page.

4. Remove the Otter app from Zoom

If you installed Otter's Zoom integration, remove it from the Zoom App Marketplace: sign in at marketplace.zoom.us, open Manage → Added Apps, find Otter.ai and click Remove.

5. Block Otter for your whole organisation (admins)

• Zoom: as an admin at marketplace.zoom.us, go to Manage → Admin App Management → Apps on Account, select Otter.ai and disable it so users can't add it.
• Any platform: require the waiting room or lobby for external participants, and restrict who can join without being admitted. That catches every meeting bot, not only Otter.

6. Delete your Otter account

In Otter, open Account Settings and choose to delete your account. Otter won't let you delete an account with an active paid subscription, so cancel that first, and export any transcripts you want to keep.
